Wrapper

I was going to wait till tonight to work in the darkroom again but decided to go work last night after getting the notice that the university would be closed today and tomorrow. I lost track of time and spent about five hours in the lab making 27 new photograms. A few were tests to see what kind of results different materials would produce. I discovered that I love the texture Vaseline adds. Baby powder, tea, and water droplets also create interesting effects. Here's one of my favorite images from tonight. It's a 5 x 8" photogram of a wrapper. The [...]

Photograms: Repetition

Photograms exploring repetition. The circles created by the elastic bands were super fun, but if you look closely you can see some of my hair which was apparently still attached. Talked about our role in the art department, being professional, and mentoring the undergrads. Graduate Darkroom Photography with Sarah Miles I've always considered Sarah Miles one of my professors because of how much I interacted with her and because of how much she inspired me during my time as an undergrad student but I never had the honor of having an actual class with her. Finally, six years later, I can officially refer to her as one of my professors. Hooray for returning to school! My photographic education had essentially been entirely digital up till now and I have been itching to learn about film and work in a darkroom for several years now. Needless [...]
