Quick & Dirty Photoshop Patterns

Playing with pattern-making in Photoshop. Pattern Swatches Pattern Samples It's been awhile since I played around with pattern-making. It's super fun. Normally I work in Illustrator but I wanted to focus on making raster based patterns for a Photoshop Pattern-making demonstration. I used bits of my own photos, drawings, stamp work, watercolor, and paste paper to make what you see here.

Graphic Design II, GTA Journal

I'm working as a graduate teaching assistant this semester in ART 343 (Graphic Design II) with Christian Dunn. It's a Monday / Wednesday class but I'm only able to attend on Mondays due to a class conflict. I feel a bit out of the loop but I'm still glad to have this opportunity. History of the Printed Picture, Class Journal

ART 677: History of the Printed Picture with Dr. Karen Henricks | Spring 2016 This art history class was inspired by the MOMA exhibit and book titled The Printed Picture by Richard Benson. We're exploring the history of the printed picture beginning with woodblocks and moving up to current technology. Vinales Valley, Cuba

I still can't believe I was fortunate enough to wake up to this view during several of my days in Cuba. Vinales Valley is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Check out some splendid images that capture the valley and it's inhabitants at the UNESCO website.

Picturesque America

Picturesque America is a two-volume set of illustrated books filled with information and engravings of various American scenes. The books were published between 1872-74 by D. Appleton and Company of New York. The volumes contain a total of nine hundred wood engravings and fifty steel engravings based on paintings of nineteenth century American landscape painters. The engravings were made by John J. Harley, Joseph S. Harley, W. H. Morse, William James Palmer, Frederick William Quartley, James H.
