Semester Review, Fall 2016

At the end of each semester MFA students are required to present a formal summary of research and creative work to all members of the MFA Committee. I had my review today and it went really well. I enjoy having opportunities to present but can't help but feel nervous. I talked too fast and ended up with dry mouth constantly causing me to have to pause for a sip of water. It's so weird because that never happens to me. I need more presentation opportunities so I can work through it. I created a keynote presentation of my work from [...]

Grad School, Weeks 14-15

We were out of school last week for Thanksgiving/Fall Break which was great because it gave me a chance to attempt to play catch up on my projects. This is our final week of class. Next week is finals week but I don't believe either of my classes will be officially meeting. I have three projects that I'm currently working on: a research methodology project on How design can help victims of sexual trauma understand their legal options a group web project on Design Entrepreneurship called HatchED and a learning object on consent called 'How not to be a Rapist: [...]

Grad School, Week 10

Grad School, Week 10: This week was one of my most exhausting weeks so far, primarily due to all my travels last week. I was in Vegas last Sunday - Friday, arrived home Saturday morning, and then left Sunday morning for a two day trip to Helen, GA to squeeze a little quality time in with my husband and some friends. To top it all off, I developed a cold as soon as I got home from Vegas so I've felt sick and tired all week. All the traveling was worth it, but boy am I glad it's the weekend. [...]

AIGA Vegas

2016 AIGA Design Conference Oct 17-19, 2016 @ The Mirage Las Vegas Las Vegas, Nevada My first AIGA conference is a wrap. It was a fun and super informative event full of interesting and inspiring content. I enjoyed hanging out with Stefanie, a fellow grad student from JSU, and the many wonderful people I met during the convention. Some great conversations were had, the speakers were fantastic, cool swag was collected, and I even won an awesome VR Headset. This was also my first visit to Vegas and it was a bit overwhelming. I enjoyed seeing the sights, but I'm [...]

TBT: Decay

Decay, 2009 Class: Adv. Imaging Instructor: Doug Clark Assignment: Dreams, Death, Desire I shot this image during the fall of 2009 as an idea for death. I was drawn to the the way the natural light filtered in and illuminated the water and stems within this vase. I've always had a thing for dead and decaying flowers. They're ugly to some, yet beautiful and mysterious. The contrast of cool and warm light, water, and air gives this image an otherworldly quality.
