AIGA Vegas

2016 AIGA Design Conference Oct 17-19, 2016 @ The Mirage Las Vegas Las Vegas, Nevada My first AIGA conference is a wrap. It was a fun and super informative event full of interesting and inspiring content. I enjoyed hanging out with Stefanie, a fellow grad student from JSU, and the many wonderful people I met during the convention. Some great conversations were had, the speakers were fantastic, cool swag was collected, and I even won an awesome VR Headset. This was also my first visit to Vegas and it was a bit overwhelming. I enjoyed seeing the sights, but I'm [...]

TBT: Decay

Decay, 2009 Class: Adv. Imaging Instructor: Doug Clark Assignment: Dreams, Death, Desire I shot this image during the fall of 2009 as an idea for death. I was drawn to the the way the natural light filtered in and illuminated the water and stems within this vase. I've always had a thing for dead and decaying flowers. They're ugly to some, yet beautiful and mysterious. The contrast of cool and warm light, water, and air gives this image an otherworldly quality.

Grad School, Week 7: Project Discussions & Large Format Printing

My week got off to a bit of a rough start. First I was up all night Monday night doing research for my Design Entrepreneurship project and putting together a mock-up Wordpress. I was in the groove so I stayed up too late and then I decided to stay up all night in order to make sure I didn't oversleep for class. I left home early and was eating breakfast at Sonic in Jacksonville when I got a call from Karl telling me our house alarm had gone off. The alarm company called a minute later so I turned around [...]

Grad School, Week 6: Introduction to Adobe Premiere

This week was so packed full of fun art things in and outside school that I think it's going to take me a day or two to recover before I can get back to work on some of my research projects. Thank goodness for long weekends! Art 625: Design Readings & Research Our reading discussion for this week revolved around Design Context. It was super tedious but interesting, especially the parts that discussed the context of culture -- an area I am very interested in. Ever since visiting Japan last year I've been thinking about their design styles in contrast to [...]
