Cover Design: The Story of My Life by Helen Keller

Project Description Paperback book cover design for The Story of My Life by Helen Keller. A few of my classmates and I drove out to Ivy Green, Helen Keller’s home in Tuscumbia, AL to photograph and research ideas for our project. I was most impressed with the gigantic trees in the yard covered in ivy, which is most likely where the home got its name. I photographed the trees, the house, and the rest of the property and ended up using my photographs for reference for the digital painting featured on my cover design. Chimera Photo Illustration

Our final project in Graphic Design 4 was a quick photo illustration of a mythical creature to show off all our shiny new Photoshop'n skills. I chose a Chimera, and I intentionally left the goat head off because it looked stupid. I would really like to know the story behind how the Chimera was thought up. I imagine the creator was very drunk. Chimera, 2009 Woohoo! You opened this blog entry so here's an extra fancy Chimera image for you to laugh at. Hammond Hall Painting Studio

JSU has two art buildings, Hammond Hall and Carlisle Fine Arts Facility. Hammond Hall is the older of the two buildings and the central hub of most of the art department activity. It's currently home to art history, printmaking, painting, and graphic design. I work as a lab assistant so I spend a lot of time in Hammond Hall. I enjoy walking around looking at the art students are making and at how the rooms are constantly changing to adjust for various classes or assignments.
