TBT: Abstract Self-Portrait
Throwback Thursday: Abstract Self-Portrait, collage made with magazine clippings. I'm still fond of it since it represents how overwhelmed my life felt at the time. Class: Beginning Graphic Design 2003

Havana Forest, Cuba This gorgeous bit of forest is the only forest area in Havana. It's a popular spot for wedding photography, Afro-Cuban rituals, and other special events. A creek borders the forest on the right creating a beautiful little pocket of nature. Vines hanging from trees create cave like spaces under the branches where evidence of people can be seen. My time here was short so it's definitely on my return-to list for the next time I visit Cuba.
Viñales Valley, Cuba An absolutely stunning view from my room at Hotel Los Jazmines in Vinales. Words cannot describe how lucky and amazed I was to wake up to this view each day.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Cuba. It was essentially a work/inspiration trip but it was also a ton of fun. Scanned some of my very first gouache and watercolor paintings/experiments. I'm hoping to reclaim some studio space in the house so I can work on some paintings this summer. I love playing with color. The blue star is from my color theory class and was done with gouache (2004). The other two are water color experiments from the one water color class I took at JSU (2008). There's nothing like looking at old work to help you realize how much progress you've made as an artist. lol
