SPE Houston 20/20 Vision

Society for Photographic Education National Conference Houston, TX; March 4th-8th @ The Westin Galleria Another wonderful SPE conference surrounded by amazing people! It's been 10 years since I joined SPE and it remains one of my absolute favorite communities. Mural Concept for Kitty Stone Elementary

Kitty Stone Elementary was looking to create a more "welcoming, inspiring, inviting, colorful and kid-friendly" atmosphere by incorporating a mural into their entry hall. Students in my pattern design class created three patterns each and were then instructed to share their patterns with classmates so students could create mural designs featuring patterns from the class. Chemigrams: Beautiful Little Mysteries

Chemigrams are an experimental art form made by chemically manipulating light-sensitive paper. These were made using a variety of resists that include common kitchen and household items such as eggs, butter, jelly, cooking spray, sunscreen, dish soap, and tape. The resists are applied to the paper while the paper is being exposed to light and then moved back and forth between developer and fix until the desired result is achieved.
