Top 50 in Hahnemühle Student Photo Competition

I'm excited to share that my #metoo series was selected as a top 50 finalist out of 700 entries in the international Hahnemühle Student Photo Competition entitled Show Us Your Series. I feel so honored to of been selected as one of the top 50 finalists from over 700 entries, especially in an international competition. I love to print my own work so I especially loved getting to test print on all the different papers Hahnemühle sent me and observing the differences each paper made on my image. As an added bonus my work and that of the other finalists was [...]

Escape from Tox City

Escape from Tox City is an interactive commentary on toxic masculinity and bullying in online gaming inspired by my experiences as a female gamer in a stereotypically male realm. The goal of this project is to raise awareness about pockets of extreme unchecked toxic masculinity that exist in online gaming communities, especially League of Legends.  League of Legends is a highly competitive multiplayer game notorious for its toxic community. Calhoun County Community Art Show Hammond Gallery | Jacksonville State University August 27th - September 17th, 2019 Reception: August 27th, 5-7 PM   Artist Statement Cyanotypes get their name from the signature blue hue of the developed prints. This dreamy blue photographic process is achieved by coating a receptive surface with a mixture of ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide, and then exposing that surface to UV light. These two prints were created by hand coating cyanotype chemistry onto paper, carefully positioning subject matter on the coated surfaces, exposing each to light, and then developing the prints in water [...]

Hello, Fall 2019!

Whew! It's been a while since I posted here. I was planning on doing some major revamping this summer but picked up some work that kept me busy. I also spent three weeks studying abroad in South Korea, and only recently returned home. It was a fantastic experience. I was enrolled in Kookmin University's Short Term Summer Language & Culture program. I lived in a dormitory in northern Seoul with three other girls, made a ton of friends, and explored Seoul almost every day. A fellow graduate student and I also went on a weekend trip to the beautiful city [...]
