TBT: Decay

Decay, 2009 Class: Adv. Imaging Instructor: Doug Clark Assignment: Dreams, Death, Desire I shot this image during the fall of 2009 as an idea for death. I was drawn to the the way the natural light filtered in and illuminated the water and stems within this vase. I've always had a thing for dead and decaying flowers. They're ugly to some, yet beautiful and mysterious. The contrast of cool and warm light, water, and air gives this image an otherworldly quality.

Print Day with Alabama Shutterbugs

Photo Printing at Caesar's Home Studio I joined some of my fellow Alabama Shutterbugs members at the home studio of Caesar Fernandez (Wild Nature Photography) for a print day. Caesar demonstrated how to print and coat a canvas print and build a custom sized frame for it, and he generously let us do some test prints of different types of media. I printed two images, one of the Gold Pavilion on metallic paper which suited the sheen of the Pavilion itself, and an image of Utsuomiya on luster paper that I absolutely love. Old Keys

#100DaysofArtPlay Day 7: Key Paintings Acrylic paint on card stock. I played around with a variety of brushes and a sponge brush. The first key didn't turn out too great but the antique key turned out cute.

Potato Stamp Collage

#100DaysofArtPlay Day 2: Block Printing with Potato Stamps & Apples I don't recall ever playing with potato stamps in the past so this was a fun and easy exercise. I scanned, cut, and glued some of my pieces together to create the collage.
