Grad Journal: Fall 2018, Week 4

Year 3, Week 4: September 10th – 16th What a crazy busy week. I was sick all week, but on the mend after seeing a doctor on the 9th. The Photo Club had its first officers meeting, and it's second meeting of the semester, and a big photo shoot with APO on Saturday. For my classes, I worked on video projects and 3d modeling in SketchUp. I had an hour-long lecture/demo/presentation in the Senior Projects class on Thursday. It was fun and went well but was a lot of work. And then there were other meetings, projects, and activities. I [...]

Grad Journal: Fall 2018, Week 1

Week 1: Sept. 20th-26th My first week back on campus was great. I had a ton of energy and was excited to get back into the swing of things. Week 1 was essentially a week of class orientation plus preparing for and carrying out the Alumni Reunion & Pop-up Show. The whole week was packed full of activity, but it was all good. I'm taking three classes this semester and am shadowing a fourth. I'm also serving as President of the Art Alumni Chapter, the MFA Student Committee, and Co-President of the Photo Club. I'm hoping to step down to [...]

Grad Journal: Spring 2018, Week 6

This semester took off a bit slow thanks to a Holiday and two weather days that caused JSU to be closed Monday-Wednesday of week 2. Classes have now been in session for six weeks and I'm finally finding my rhythm, unlike last semester. Last semester was an adrenaline-powered nightmare. I earned As in all my classes so I'm sure some would think it wasn't that bad, but it was. I hope to never overload myself like that again. I'm in three classes this semester, but only one of them is a studio class (last semester all three were studios). This [...]

Grad Journal: Fall 2017, Week 9

Week 9: October 16th-22nd The SPESC Photo Conference in Waco, Texas was fantastic. I flew to Dallas, Texas on Thursday, and drove to Waco, TX for the conference which took place Friday-Sunday. I landed in Atlanta around midnight Sunday night and got lost in the parking garage so I didn't make it out of Atlanta until around 1:30 am. I was so tired I ending up parking at a gas station and sleeping for a few hours before driving home. I didn't make it home until after 5 am. Needless to say, it was a long day, which was then followed by [...]
