Hello, Fall 2019!

Whew! It's been a while since I posted here. I was planning on doing some major revamping this summer but picked up some work that kept me busy. I also spent three weeks studying abroad in South Korea, and only recently returned home. It was a fantastic experience. I was enrolled in Kookmin University's Short Term Summer Language & Culture program. I lived in a dormitory in northern Seoul with three other girls, made a ton of friends, and explored Seoul almost every day. A fellow graduate student and I also went on a weekend trip to the beautiful city [...]

SPE Cleveland Recap

Had a blast at the national SPE conference in Cleveland this year. I finally fulfilled my mission of introducing a few new students to SPE. Both had a wonderful time and gained so much from the experience. Hearing their thoughts about the experience echoed my own thoughts from attending my first SPE conference, mostly in the form of there are other people out there that love photography the way I love photography. I also got some really great feedback and suggestions on my #metoo series. A lot of new ideas and a lot of ideas that affirmed some of the [...]

Grad School, Spring 2019

UPDATE: I'm planning to do a major redesign of my blog this summer so I haven't been posting as much here. I'm slowly moving my grad journal entries over to my personal blog at carolandkarl.com so that this site can eventually be a nice clean portfolio site with a blog featuring my work and learning resources (at least that's my current plan). Right now this is very much a catch all journal and it just feels kind of messy. Anyways, last semester ended well. I created a lot of nice work that I really should upload soon but this semester [...]

Grad Journal: Fall 2018, Week 5

Year 3, Week 5: September 17th – 23rd My busy weekend left me feeling exhausted all week. Tuesday-Thursday were a real struggle. My back hurt all week thanks to me overexerting myself at the Photo Club photoshoot on the 15th. I was chronically tired and had trouble waking and getting going each more. On Wednesday I suffered a really bad migraine attack. I felt it coming on before I left my house but was in such a hurry I forgot to take something for it. I was rubbing my right temple and covering my right eye for most of my [...]

Grad Journal: Fall 2018, Week 4

Year 3, Week 4: September 10th – 16th What a crazy busy week. I was sick all week, but on the mend after seeing a doctor on the 9th. The Photo Club had its first officers meeting, and it's second meeting of the semester, and a big photo shoot with APO on Saturday. For my classes, I worked on video projects and 3d modeling in SketchUp. I had an hour-long lecture/demo/presentation in the Senior Projects class on Thursday. It was fun and went well but was a lot of work. And then there were other meetings, projects, and activities. I [...]
