My husband Karl removed this old window shortly after I took this shot. I’ll be a little sad once the last of our old windows have been replaced as they do make interesting subject matter. This window was falling apart as you can see by the gap between the two sections. The trash can is full of loose insulation Karl pulled out of the attic floor. We’re keeping most of it to reuse elsewhere.
Another shot of our guest room — my usual studio space. We were working on our living room and downstairs bath but a water leak we couldn’t pinpoint forced us to put those spaces on hold so we are working on our hallway and guest room. Most of my recent work documents the guest room since it’s our current focus. We’ve removed the drywall and made a few structural repairs. We’re hoping to tackle the electrical work around the end of the month.
I’ve been documenting our renovation nightmare for years, but have only recently begun to put the series together. I’ve been printing a lot of the images for an upcoming conference and showing them to my husband so he can see what I see; I’m happy to report that this project seems to be improving both of our morale. It makes me so happy to see my husband’s perception of our home improve a bit since it’s state weighs most heavily on him.
